We are excited to be recruiting for a Principal DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team, reporting to the Lead Platform Engineer.

About the Role

As a Principal DevOps Engineerat Optibrium, you will maintain and continuously enhance our existing AWS cloud-based infrastructure and the products and services it supports, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and effectively.

Main Reponsibilities:

  • Maintain and extend our existing AWS cloud based infrastructure and the products and services it supports efficiently and effectively
  • Minimise any downtime and ensure cloud based data-recovery protocols are up-to-date and working effectively.
  • Ensure all cloud infrastructure, products and services are fully patched/updated to provide the best defence against critical data loss/exfiltration (cyber-attacks, disaster events etc)
  • Ensure our cloud based disaster recovery plan is fully up-to-date and regularly reviewed
  • Coordinate with the security working group to ensure that policies and procedures relating to the cloud infrastructure (e.g. our disaster recovery plan) remain up-to-date and regularly reviewed and are aligned/maintained to IS27001 standards.
  • Mentor and develop members of the team
  • Work with the wider organisation to instill devops best practises amongst the wider organisation

About you

You will bring:

  • A deep understanding of docker build and ECR distribution strategies
  • Advanced experience developing Kubernetes applications with deployment via Helm charts
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
  • Experience developing in Python
  • Working knowledge of authentication and authorisation systems such as SSO, oAuth etc
  • Understanding of AWS resources, including: EKS, EC2, S3, IAM, SSO, VPC etc.
  • Development of pipelines as code using Jenkins and Github Actions
  • Previous experience with automated integration testing in CI/CD pipelines using Behave, Flask 8, and Coverage
  • Advanced AWS monitoring, maintenance and debugging skills
  • Ability to prioritise, coordinate and delegaten in accordance with business priorities whilst progressing the DevOps Roadmap
  • Ability to take ownership and drive initiatives through to completion
